The A25 is under Construction and will be ready in 2010.
The south part are ready and connect Thessalonik via the Makedonian-International-Airport with the west-finger (KASSANDRA) of Chalkidiki. The north part connect via the Thessaloniki-Inner-Ringroad with Promachonas, the Greek-Bulgarian Border (Inner European border to Bulgaria). This axis is the end of Paneuropean Corridor (Berlin - Prague - Budapest - Sofia - Greek-bulgarian inner EU-border) and also the main connection of the Greek road network with Bulgaria. The completion of the axis from Thessaloniki to Sofia is a priority project both on national and European level. It is being constructed as a dual carriageway with two traffic lanes and a hard shoulder per direction.
The MEPPPW has carried out construction works in previous periods on two sections of the axis - 17.5 km of 18/21m-wide dual carriageway. In 1998 the responsibility for the preparation of designs and the construction of the remaining north part was assigned to Egnatia Odos AE
The axis has a total length of approximately 236km
